Perusing our Melodrama Scripts Instantly Online

Click on one of the links below to learn more about each of our Melodramas and you can even download a PDF Perusal copy of a Melodrama for FREE by simply telling us who you are. You can read the perusal copy online, but it is not a printable version. Not that we don't trust you ... but there are villains out there. Heroes can get full production version for any one of our melodramas for the paltry sum of only $150 per Melodrama in Royalties that are good for 120 days of performances.

Perusal copies don't include sheet music for the songs or rehearsal CDs.  And since it is not a production copy it can not be used for production (Oh my ... that was redundant).  After reading our Melodramas ... if you then decide you want to produce one of them, simply click on the PayPal® links we provide to pay Production royalties and you will receive a link to download printable versions of scripts. Sheet music and other production resources will be mailed to you quickly after you payment is received.

Click one of the Melodramas Scripts below for a quick synopsis of the play, to download a Perusal Copy Online or to even Purchase Performance Rights online.

How do you get Production Rights, Scripts & Sheet Music

Normally when you decide to produce a melodrama or play you need to obtain Production Rights from the publisher by paying royalties on a "Per Performance" basis to the publisher or the author. Then you have to buy scripts above and beyond that cost. There's calculations, estimations, forms to fill out ... generally a pain and then there could be additional costs for music scores.

At HeroandVillain.com our goal is to make it much simpler to produce a Melodrama. Royalties for the production of any of our Melodramas are reasonable flat fee. Gary McCarver (the man behind HeroandVillain.com and the playwright) owns all rights of production for the Melodramas ...  Chaos at the Cannery, Dirty Deeds at the Depot and Trouble Bubbles at the Hot Springs but is sharing them for a paltry meager sum.

And to reduce costs further ... the scripts are provided to you electronically so you can print out as many or as few copies as you might need. When your purchase, you will be given the link to a reproducible script in PDF format so you can print as many copies as needed for cast actors and crew. In addition we will mail you a musical score for your piano player and a "rehearsal" CD so your actors can practice while your piano player is learning the score the next business day or so after you purchase rights to one of our melodramas. Melodrama music is composed of mostly original lyrics set to pre 1922 public-domain music.  Even paying is made easy by putting PayPal® links right on our website for each Melodrama. Simple!

While Hero and Villain plays are available for Theatres and Playhouses, they also work great as fund raisers for civic organizations, clubs, church groups, community centers, mountain retreats or dinner theaters. These family-oriented melodramas are now provided for a flat royalty fee of $150 each, which includes rights to perform the play for 120 days. These plays have been produced successfully and are designed to help you have a production your town will be talking about all year.

If you haven't done so already ... take a few minutes to download a Perusal copy of any of our Melodramas and afterwards ... click on the PayPal® Links to get rights to produce a Melodramas in your community. If you have special questions or need some assistance before purchasing ... email the author. Remember to Get a little Melodramatic ... and have fun while doing it.

Each of our Melodramas are Full length plays ... but unlike other plays you might purchase rights to produce ... our author loves it when you change the names of places in the scripts, even the names of characters and its fine to leave out a song if the actor your choose is (how shall we say this) ... less than "tune-full". The goal is to revive this art form of Melodrama and if you want to perform a Melodrama, but your venue limits you to 90 minutes ... go ahead ... be ruthless and hove fun. After all ... that is the goal. In future months and years be sure to revisit this website for even more prolific productions. Our staff of writers are busy working on some exciting new productions. Alright ... it is only Gary ... but he is doing the work of ten men to get these New Melodrama Packages and other melodrama related materials ready for you to purchase for your theater, playhouse, community center, mountain retreat or even dinner theater.
